Pin Badge site amazing success!

Congratulations to Cartgate Lodge Café who have raised £8,250 since November 2012 through the sale of RSPB wildlife pin badges.  Pictured are the café owners Chris and Jill Mogford receiving a certificate of thanks from Nick Bruce-White (RSPB South West Regional Director) at our April indoor meeting.

The café pin badge box sells more badges than any other in our region and is one of the highest earning boxes in the whole of the UK.  Note: excluding badges sold on RSPB reserves/special events.

In the year ended 31st March 2017 £103,000 was raised from the sale of badges in the South West – £8,000 more than the previous year.  This amount has helped towards the success of the following species in our region:

  • Cirl buntings now stand at 1098 pairs just in the SW, which is 900% compared with 25 years ago.
  • Choughs have increased in Cornwall with a good breeding year in 2016 of 23 offspring.
  • The Great Crane Project in Somerset continues to have success with 25 potential breeding pairs reached in 2016.
